Protecting public access
Bearspaw Reservoir is a shared natural resource. Together, we can ensure that safe, non-motorized public recreation continues for everyone.
For years, the area around Bearspaw Reservoir has been a place where Calgarians and Albertans come to enjoy the outdoors — to paddle, walk, ride, and simply be in nature. Bearspaw Marina was built to make that experience easier and more accessible for everyone.
"Access to nature shouldn't be a privilege. It should be part of how we live."
Recently, public access to portions of the reservoir area has been affected. Routes that families have used for years have become uncertain. This impacts not just Bearspaw Marina, but the broader community that relies on these spaces for recreation, well-being, and connection with the natural world.
Access update: A new fence has been erected along the usual approach. To reach the marina, please go around the fence and follow the signed detour path to the dock. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore clear public access.
We believe in a fair, balanced approach — one that respects both private property and the public's right to enjoy Alberta's waterways and surrounding lands safely and responsibly.
